LRD unisex pieces are about offering accommodating sizes that fit male and female body frames; not about androgynous fashion that is trying to find a middle ground between both genders. These one-of-a-kind upcycled jeans are truly unique.

Learning about the meaning of the symbols, the texture, the colors, and the visual beauty of the Indigo African Mud Cloth inspired me to be creative. The symbols adorning the mud cloth represent occupation, status, and wealth, infusing these jeans with a story to tell.

These Afrocentric wide leg bell bottom jeans, with genuine leather trim, and detailed top-stitched seams, blend African heritage fashion with an American Denim classic, blue jeans, to create a uniquely funky fresh African American style.

The distressing, discolorations, and Sashiko stitched repairs honor the authenticity of the thrifted denim. Making LRD pieces from thrifted denim clothes is a small step towards more sustainable fashion and respects the earth’s finite resources that were used to manufacture ‘disposable’ fast fashion.

A one yard cut piece of coordinating Ankara fabric is included to use as a headwrap or to create a DIY project that reflects your unique cultural style.
