Upcycled from a thrifted jeans back pocket with the symbol embroidered on genuine leather applique and embroidered text on denim scrap appliques.

Adinkra symbols are traditionally stamped onto fabric. Adinkrahene Dua is a combination of two significant Adinkra symbols from the Akan people of Ghana.

Adinkrahene means “King of the Adinkra symbols.” It is a symbol for authority, leadership, and charisma. Dua when combined with other words may represent femininity, beauty, cleanliness, and other positive feminine qualities.

This combination can be interpreted as a symbol representing a powerful and benevolent leader who possesses both strength and positive qualities, or someone who leads under the protection and guidance of the divine.
